On March 9, 2024, I was part of a group of UC Berkeley graduate students (and a friend!) who broke the BART Speedrun World Record. Certified by Guinness World Records, we traveled to every BART station in the Bay Area in a time of 5 hours, 47 minutes, and 42 seconds. Bay Area Rapid Transit, also known as BART, is a rapid transit system serving the San Francisco Area. There has been a history of people speedrunning the system, but we were the first to get it officially certified by Guinness World Records, meaning we needed video proof and witnesses at the beginning, end, and throughout our trip. Our record ended up getting a lot of attention. We were invited to BART’s headquarters and were introduced at a meeting with the board of directors, and participated in many interviews, both for written articles and on live TV. It was an amazing experience, and we were super excited to share details about our journey and our love for transit!

Below is a selection of published articles and interviews on our World Record. If you would like to view a comprehensive list, it can be viewed here.
